Hold It Against Me – Britney Spears
The time has come; a Dubstep dance break in an American Top 40 pop song. The highlight “PopStep” moment is so colossal; it comes off to be confused in its own intensity. Although, it does gets a bit serious when Brit moans, talks about her body in a British accent, and demands a boy to “…Pop it like a hood,” Ciara style. The beat is channeling a crossover of sounds from past Britney albums such as 2003′s In The Zone and 2007′s gem that is Blackout. A shiny beat drop before the hook makes the song “Shattered Glass” from 2008′s Circus an early session and “Hold It Against Me” the final product. Tropical lyrics penned by pop-pixie Bonnie Mckee are reminiscent of something you’d find on the Ministry Of Sound/Hed Kandi Compilation series. This is indeed a Britney Spears single of the year 2011.
