WONDERLAND – NATALIA KILLS
Dark-Pop enthusiast Natalia Kills successfully curates a temporary, undetermined genre within pop. The bewitching Ron Feemster beat tricks listeners in the beginning as it drives an optimistic atmosphere with a melody that sounds like a musical box. An alteration rises with a continuous pop-thrash of drums over unholy chants that sound like a possessed choir. Between verses, we find a fragile but angry Kills splattering social commentary on how the storybook heroes we look up to as children are really the villains. These heroes blind us with the idea of perfection we will never find in reality. As the hook climaxes, she shouts, right to the point, “I don’t believe in fairy-tales.” But the lyrics start to rewind as the chorus reveals a new story about a secluded Wonderland that only Natalia and her experienced lover know about.
